How Can I Get Involved with the Project?

Give Us Feedback

Become a Core Teacher

Initially, 45 K-12 teachers will be chosen throughout the state to attend training sessions the first year. There will be training sessions in West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, and East Tennessee. All expenses will be paid including books and resources, meals, lodging if necessary, and substitute teacher pay. Each teacher will also receive a stipend. In return, each teacher will be asked to create a lesson plan utilizing sources from the Volunteer Voices library and to recruit one additional teacher to join the team the next year.

These core teachers will serve as a source of feedback for the project. The teachers who enroll the first year must sign a three year commitment and will be paid the stipend and all expenses each year. They must also commit to using the digital library in their classrooms. Email the Education Coordinator (vvedcoord@utk.edu>) for additional details and instructions for application.

Get Training at Your School

If you would like for us to provide on-site training at your school or in your district, please e-mail the education coordinator, Natalie Patterson, for more information. This is a free service funded through the Volunteer Voices grant project.

Sample topics include "Using Primary Sources to Address History and Social Studies Performance Indicators" and "Technology and E-Learning in the History and Social Studies Classrooms." Training can be tailored and adapted to meet the needs of your staff.
